Transformation is my passion and expertise

I have spent over 25 years of my career working in medical settings with behavioral components including outpatient, inpatient, and residential. I have clearly seen the importance of focusing on the whole person. Each of us is unique in terms of personality, values, culture, goals, strengths and challenges. You can trust that I will treat you with respect, dignity and compassion in every interaction, while maintaining the highest standards for integrity and ethics. I have had the pleasure of coming in contact with individuals I have worked with who have made long-term changes and now have a much greater sense of well-being. It is seeing former clients whose lives have been transformed that energizes me and brings a great deal of satisfaction to my work.

A Session With Me

To guide you in your healing, I employ complementary therapy approaches and techniques to unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I initially seek information about your concerns and try understanding you, how the problem started, and how the problems relate to your overall life. We will then develop a plan as to how we can work together to make the changes necessary to meet your long-term goals.  We will work toward building a life that is consistent with your values so you can be the best version of yourself. I provide individual therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness.

Why Work With Me

Working with a therapist should be more than reducing feelings like anxiety or depression, but living a happy life that is meaningful and having a general sense of well-being. I use a strength-based approach to identify your unique strengths and form a foundation for growth. Although I remain flexible, I aim to help people make important changes in their life as quickly as possible, usually within 12 sessions.

Much more than than a Therapist

In addition to my private practice in clinical psychology:

I have worked as a mental health consultant for the Los Angeles County Fire Department for 28 years. As part of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team, I provide trauma counseling for fire service personnel, dispatchers, families, and civilian employees. I also assist in training for their peer support team and new recruits, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention.

I am the Program Director for an Intermediate Care Facility for developmentally disabled adults. I oversee the medical and behavioral aspects of the habilitative program, the staff training and supervision, and am responsible for regulatory compliance.

I was a College Health Center Supervising Psychologist for 20 years and I currently provide clinical supervision to doctoral students at Pepperdine University in their Psychology Clinic.

I am committed to learning and improving my skills to bring more to a client's therapy

Through active engagement in professional counseling organizations I have regular exposure to the latest research and advances in the counseling to ensure my consistent professional development.

I am a long time board member and former Board President of Homeless Health Care L.A. an organization that provides integrated treatment for homeless clients including, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, harm reduction, medical, training and education, outreach, housing, and advocacy.
